Since meeting Carolina Ardohain, however, we're prepared to reconsider our position. More Body Of An Angel than Hand Of God, this 20-year-old former shop assistant is the new face of Victoria's Secret, the world's favourite underwear catalogue and training ground to such industry giants as Gisele Bundchen, Tyra Banks and Heidi Klum.

Already the most popular TV presenter in Argentina, we fully expect Carolina to become as ubiquitous as a David Beckham mohawk in the coming months. The evidence? Well, Pampita, as she's known to her friends, already has a whopping 62 websites bearing her name, and enough poster campaigns and magazine covers lined up to see her basking in the fashionable spotlight for the foreseeable future.

In the name of research, we asked her to define her considerable appeal. 'Genes,' she told us modestly. 'Though I'm Argentinian, I'd say I get my shape - thin but with proper curves - from the Brazilian side of my family.'
